BU Takes Three eduStyle Awards for 2010

Three sites built out of my office took home awards from eduStyle this year (both judged and people’s choice for both). Delightfully, I had a hand of varying degrees in all three:

I detailed the Annual Report site shortly after it launched, I’m still very, very proud of the map effect.

I just explained my involvement in BUniverse, which will be an ongoing commitment of maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements.

And the last, is International Programs. I added functionality to an existing concept for the homepage Flash presentation, struggling to tolerate ActionScript 2 as it went along (video playlists, flashy effects, Google Analytics event tracking) and also provided a very simple chromeless video player for internal pages to allow some pages to have video headers.

My office is very aware of eduStyle and appreciate the ability to keep up with what our peers in the industry are doing as well as receiving the full gamut of feedback from the community.

Berklee Summer Programs Site a 2009 MITX Interactive Awards Finalist

A site I worked on while at a&g, previously written about here, was recently a finalist in the 14th annual 2009 MITX Interactive Awards in the Educational Institution category. I’m extremely proud of this site, as close work with the designer, Charlie Guerrero, helped streamline the process and make a very stunning visual presentation within a strict budget of hours. Web Marketing Association Award for US District Courts of Massachusetts Website

Working with Max Guerrero and Dave Laucirica early on at my time at a&g, we put together, what I must say is, one of the nicest government websites on the Internet (pre-Obama Whitehouse) and I’m proud to receive an award for it. Not radically advanced, we worked within strict limitations and came up with what I feel is an excellent product. Upon completion, we handed over control of the site to the courts and it’s been tweaked here and there, but you can see it live at http://www.mad.uscourts.gov and more detail can be found in my earlier post, here.

2009 Internet Advertising Competition Award

Allen & Gerritsen recently received an award for Best Education Website for the Berklee Valencia project, in which I was involved. A showcase of that work and explanation of my involvement will be forthcoming.
